2/2024 - Excited that our 3DPath paper is a featured article in Nature Protocols. This was a huge collaborative effort outlining all the little details that we have refined over the years for sample prep, imaging, data processing and quantitative quality control.

 

1/2024 - Dr. Liu has been elected as a Fellow of SPIE, the international society for optics and photonics, joining the 2024 Fellows class!

 

11/2023 - Dr. Liu has been elected as a Fellow of Optica (formerly the Optical Society of America), joining the 2024 Fellows class!

 

3/2023 - Happy to report that the 3D datasets (original prostate biopsy images, ITAS3D-generated gland segmentation masks) and clinical outcomes for Weisi's 2022 Cancer Research paper are now publicly available through NIH's The Cancer Imaging Archive (TCIA) - https://doi.org/10.7937/44MA-GX21

 

6/2022 - The Molecular Biophotonics Lab has been awarded an R01 grant from the NIH/NCI entitled: "Prostate cancer risk stratification via computational 3D pathology."  This is a 5-year collaborative project with Dr. Anant Madabhushi at Case Western Reserve University (moving to Emory University this Summer).

5/2022 - Congratulations to Dominie Miyasato on joining the next class of MD students at Harvard Medical School!  She will be pursuing the MD track of the Harvard-MIT Program in Health Sciences and Technology (HST)one of the top educational programs focused on translational medical science and engineering.

7/2021 - The Molecular Biophotonics Lab has been awarded an R01 grant from the NIH/NIBIB entitled: "Instrumentation platform for 3D pathology with open-top light-sheet (OTLS) microscopy."  This project will continue to refine our OTLS-based imaging technologies to transform diagnostic pathology.

 

6/2021 - Lightspeed Microscopy Inc., which was spun out of the Liu lab and co-founded by Drs. Liu, True, Glaser, and Reder, has raised a $4M Series-A financing round led by Dynamk Capital.

5/2017 - Congratulations to co-first authors, Dr. Yu "Winston" Wang, and Dr. Nick Reder, as well as many other contributing authors on a paper that has been accepted for publication in Cancer Research.  The paper, entitled "Raman-encoded molecular imaging (REMI) with topically applied SERS nanoparticles for intraoperative guidance of lumpectomy,” is the product of a collaboration between the Liu lab and pathologists at the UW medical center (Dr. Nick Reder and Professor Suzy Dintzis).

3/2017 - Dr. Adam Glaser has been awarded an F32 NRSA postdoctoral fellowship (3 years) from the NIH/NCI.  His project is entitled: "Light-sheet microscopy (LSM) for rapid wide-area imaging and pathology of bread-loafed prostate specimens."

 

3/2017 - The Molecular Biophotonics Lab has been awarded an R21 grant from the NIH/NCI entitled: "Kinetic modeling of multiplexed SERS nanoparticles for quantitative molecular phenotyping (QMP) of breast cancer."  This project is a collaboration between the labs of Dr. Liu (project PI) and Dr. Ken Tichauer at the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) in Chicago.

12/2013 - The Molecular Biophotonics Lab has bee awarded an R01 grant from the NIH/NCI entitled: "Intraoperative confocal microscopy for quantitative delineation of low-grade glioma margins."  This project is a collaboration between the labs of Dr. Liu (project PI) and Neurosurgeon Dr. Nader Sanai at the Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix, AZ, which sees the largest volume of glioma patients in the nation.

 

4/2013 - Congratulations to high school intern, Nebiyou Getahun, who was selected as a finalist for the 2013 National BioGENEius challenge in Chicago.  Neibyou is heading to Harvard University in the Fall.
